MidHudson Chocolate Milk offers a variety of workshops and a uniquely developed lactation resource kit for community members. As an organization, it’s a part of our ideology to help individuals honor the pregnancy experience, so it is important that we engage our participants while they are still expecting.
The “SevenS” workshop encourages the discipline of lactation as an exercise in body autonomy to strengthen emotional acuity during the perinatal period. “SevenS” covers the health benefits and history of lactation, in addition to normalizing support, encouraging sustainability as an extension of personhood, and preparing parents for lactation as a crash course in the joyous discipline of parenting.
“SevenS” is a 90-minute workshop, a 60-minute informational session, and a 30-minute section for discussion to help expectant parents align with the ideals of their desired birthing experience. Participants ideally take the “SevenS” at the end of their second trimester allowing them time to utilize the information to formulate a birth and postpartum plan of action and time to find the appropriate support team that’ll be dedicated to them having a positive perinatal experience.
